bartenders for the 2024/2025 academic year!
Job Title: Auk’s Lodge Bar Staff
Appointment Term: Part Time
Reports to: Frost Student Association via Auk’s Lodge Manager
Hours of Work: No more than 20 hours per week
Wages: $16.55
To apply to this job, you must be a full-time student registered with the Fleming College, Frost or Haliburton Campus.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide professional and courteous service; take customer orders, prepare beverages, and collect payments.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, both behind the bar and in the Auk’s Lodge space.
Operate point of sale terminals and maintain balanced tills/floats.
Monitor bar inventory and supplies and communicate results with management.
Monitor Liquor License Standards and ensure all Auk’s Lodge policies and procedures are observed in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
Ensure all policies outlined in the Auk’s Lodge Employee Handbook/Manual, and the Auk’s Lodge House Rules are followed.
Assist with setup and preparation of the Auk’s Lodge for events as prescribed by management.
Occasional other duties as prescribed by management.
Skills and Qualifications
Familiarity with local liquor laws and the ability to enforce them; must have valid Smart Serve Certification.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic math skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
General food safety knowledge.
Mixology: familiar with common ingredients, able to make basic cocktails.
Decision-making and problem solving.
Conflict resolution and de-escalation.
Self-motivated, able to multitask.
Teamwork; fostering a respectful and supportive work environment.
Must be able to stand/walk for much of a shift of up to 8 hours. Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
