Fleming Bird Conservation Committee

As part of the international effort to conserve bird populations across North America and in alignment with the ethos of Fleming College, the Frost Student Association is proud to spearhead the formation of the Fleming Bird Conservation Committee (FBCC).  The FBCC, starting as a pilot at the School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, is composed of students, faculty, and college representatives, has come together with the goal to transform the Frost Campus into Ontario’s first-ever Bird-Friendly college Campus. To accomplish this goal, our initial efforts will focus on securing the windows at the Frost Campus using deterrent decals.

  • The Fleming Bird Conservation Committee will advocate and campaign for implementing bird-friendly actions at Fleming College to create a safer environment for birds, provide education for the student community, and support opportunities for applied research.

The Fleming Bird Conservation Committee will seek to complete its mission by:

    (1) Addressing and mitigating key threats to birds at Fleming College by installing Feather Friendly Window protection

    (2) Protecting and enhancing habitat and bird-friendly initiatives on campus

    (3) Conducting outreach and education to the school and City of Kawartha Lakes communities

    (4) Providing opportunities for applied research

  • • A shared responsibility

    • Safe, inclusive and accessible environment for discussion and decision-making

    • Proactive, innovative and goal-orientated

    • Building relationships to achieve mandate

    • Engaging the school and broader community to drive action

    • Working towards a campus that balances nature, wildlife, and people
